Create accountabilities to Métis health and wellness within the MNBC—Province of British Columbia Métis Relations Working Table by establishing a Health and Wellness sub-Working Table that includes leadership from MNBC, BC Ministry of Health, BC Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer, and regional health authorities.
- The Health and Wellness sub-Working Table should report regularly to the Métis Relations Working Table on progress related to co-development and implementation of strategies, programs, policies, and services to support the following:
- Enhancing cultural safety and cultural wellness for Métis people;
- Ensuring that provincial health systems are responsive to and inclusive of the unique needs and cultural traditions of Métis people;
- Developing Métis-specific cultural safety and cultural wellness training; and
- Increasing the numbers of Métis health care providers (physicians, nurses, etc.).
- Use the MPHS program report findings as indicators of the Métis Relations Working Table’s progress on improving determinants of health and health outcomes for Métis people.

Create a roundtable or special working table that brings together designated representatives of CYSN family networks, advocacy groups, community service providers and funding ministries for regular and routine check-ins and brainstorming on emerging needs, barriers to services and access to supports. The work of B.C.’s Social Services Sector Roundtable during the pandemic provides a model. This body must include Indigenous organizations and communities to prioritize the wellness of Indigenous children in B.C.

We call upon the federal government to restore and increase funding to the CBC/Radio-Canada, to enable Canada’s national public broadcaster to support reconciliation, and be properly reflective of the diverse cultures, languages, and perspectives of Aboriginal peoples, including, but not limited to:
- Increasing Aboriginal programming, including Aboriginal-language speakers.
- Increasing equitable access for Aboriginal peoples to jobs, leadership positions, and professional development opportunities within the organization.
- Continuing to provide dedicated news coverage and online public information resources on issues of concern to Aboriginal peoples and all Canadians, including the history and legacy of residential schools and the reconciliation process.

We call upon the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, as an independent non-profit broadcaster with programming by, for, and about Aboriginal peoples, to support reconciliation, including but not limited to:

Conduct an analysis and identify best practices in poverty prevention and reduction programs for the purpose of enhancing and expanding them to be delivered in other parts of the province. Friendship Centres are the organization of choice for Indigenous people seeking supports and are uniquely positioned to play a key role in addressing the issue with more support. Greater consistency in the types of programming/services offered by Friendship Centres will ensure that clients can access the same services regardless of where they live.

Commit to using non-incarceration and alternative measures especially for minor offenses committed by Indigenous women. Governments must also provide sufficient and stable funding to Indigenous communities and organizations to provide alternatives to incarceration including community-based rehabilitation, diversion, community courts, and restorative justice methods geared towards Indigenous women.
