The “2022 BC Child Poverty Report Card” is the 26th annual publication of its kind released by the First Call Child and Youth Advocacy Society. The 2022 iteration was produced in collaboration with SPARC BC and Campaign 2000. This report card contains 25 child poverty reduction recommendations which are directed at provincial and federal governments and focus on matters of economic inequality and investing in lowering barriers through universal programs.

Create enough licensed child care spaces for all who choose them. Ensure early childhood educators are paid compensation that reflects their education and the importance of the work they do by implementing a province-wide, publicly funded competitive wage grid for positions within the child care sector. The CFLIM-AT is a broad, comprehensive, and relative measure of poverty. Replace the Market Basket Measure with the Census Family Low Income Measure After Tax (CFLIMAT), calculated with annual tax filer data, as Canada’s and BC’s official measure of poverty.
